La Cocinita in Evanston is fantastic! The empanadas were absolutely delicious, perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with flavor. Their happy hour is also a great deal, with a fun atmosphere, excellent drinks, and friendly service. Great food, great value, and a wonderful experience overall. Highly recommend!

Amazing happy hour - lots of $3 bites, we tried tacos and arepitas and everything was delicious. The pork and chicken were great but the veggie arepita was our favorite bite. Definitely try the salsas, I loved pairing the creamy chipotle and habanero in each bite. They also have drink specials and the service can’t be beat! HH is 3-6 pm every day.

A delicious meal. So flavorful and delicious. The red salsa was a particular stand out as were the arepas. They might look small but they are filling. The carne was so flavorful and the whole package of the arepas:perfection. Add to that a fun, friendly, and hard working staff and this place is worth repeat visits.

La Cocinita is an amazing restaurant for authentic Venezuelan cuisine in Evanston! We got catering, and everything was so good. The arepas are stuffed with delicious, fresh ingredients, and I love the homemade taste of the cornmeal patties. The yuca fries were crispy and went great with both the cilantro-green onion and chipotle crema sauces. The maduros were also really yummy. If you come here, you must order some churros. They were to die for, and after dipping in the rich chocolate sauce, you won’t be able to resist getting more. They are so crunchy with the perfect coating of cinnamon sugar. I will definitely be dining in, and I know everything will be just as incredible!

So I had a quick bite to eat here and what the locals say about the Arepas was factual, the best I’ve ever had, served hot & fresh. The aroma alone, when I entered the restaurant, made me want one of everything on the menu! If that doesn’t sell you on this place, let me tell you, the kitchen is open and very visible, when I tell you the work and prep stations were clean and orderly. I mean spotless. This team impressed me so much. Ordering was a breeze, the have a QR Code on each table. Just scan the code, place your order, and pay all within their web browser and your meal is delivered to your table right from the kitchen, seamlessly. Customized orders are easy too. I had a margarita on the rocks which was pretty good too. McTwindom highly recommends LaCocinita Restaurant in Evanston, IL. I will be back again!
